Service history

The Pergamonn led its fleet at the Battle of Van-Fleet Starzone in 794 UC (485 IC / 3594 CE). It also led the 6th Fleet against the Lohengramm Fleet at the Battle of Astarte in 796 UC (487 IC / 3596 CE). With the 6th Fleet soundly defeated by Lohengramm's surprise attack, the Pergamonn was heavily damaged and surrounded by the Imperial fleet. The Imperial fleet then ceased fire, urging surrender and promising lenient treatment. Vice Admiral Moore could not bear the shame of defeat, and instead ordered a final charge. The Pergamonn was immediately destroyed. (HBSHBL: 'The Battle of Van-Fleet Starzone'; Overture to a New War)

Background information

Pergamonn is a mistranslation of Pergamon, an ancient Greek city in modern-day Turkey.

The Pergamonn as seen in LOGH: 'In the Eternal Night'

Licensed Sources

Initially due to be completed in late 782 UC (473 IC / 3582 CE), construction was delayed due to incorporating improvements after feedback from field tests of the first ship of this class. The Pergamonn was not launched until January 783 UC (474 IC / 3583 CE) and final work was completed in June of that year. (Data Book: Mechanic & Seiyū Encyclopaedia, p. 114)

The Ajax class of flagships had been designed for modular construction and the Pergamonn was composed of approximately 150 smaller modules.

The initial secondary armament of 10 guns on each side was considered too light so an additional 12 guns were added on each side near the bridge to defend against Imperial small craft attack.

The rod shaped antennas were used for faster than light communications. (Fleet File Collection Vol.10)

The Pergamonn's service history is included in the Data Book: Mechanic & Seiyū Encyclopaedia, p. 114:

  • 15 June 783 UC (474 IC / 3583 CE) — Inducted as flagship of the 6th Fleet
  • June 789 UC (480 IC / 3589 CE) — First refit. Upgraded engine thrust and warp stabilisers. Weapons modernised.
  • 24 March 794 UC (485 IC / 3594 CE) — Engaged the enemy in the Battle of Van-Fleet. Sustained light damage from close range weapons fire.

OVA/ONW appearance differences

The Pergamonn appears significantly different in Overture to a New War in comparison to LOGH: 'In the Eternal Night'. Most prominently, there is an additional structure rising out of the forward dorsal hull just behind the prow. Further, the rear hull is higher, and the number and arrangement of antennas protruding from the dorsal and ventral sides of the rear hull is different. The pennant numbers also differ. It is unknown to what degree (if at all) the characteristics (length, width, height, and crew) between the two versions of this vessel differ (especially where all dimensions include ships' antennas).
