Ishiguro Noboru (Japanese: 石黒昇) (August 24, 1938 to March 20, 2012) was a Tokyo-born animator, director and artist. Early in his career, Ishiguro worked on Astro Boy and Space Battleship Yamato, though he was perhaps best known for his role as director of the main Legend of Galactic Heroes OVA series. Ishiguro was interviewed many times on the the subject of animation, and even co-wrote a book about his work, techniques and thoughts on animation. He passed away on March 20, 2012, in Kawasaki City Hospital, Kawasaki City, Japan, from a post-operative lung infection.
